MAZU STATUTE IN KUDAT

SHAME…Dr. Hiew, Dr. Felix Chong, Jeffrey Kumin photo in front of the head part of MaZu statue at Kudat.
SABAH DAP leaders and members today visited the site where the huge MaZu statute is supposed to be erected. Very surprisingly they found the ‘sad sight’ where the beautiful MaZu statute is just pieces of components spread out and laying on the open field, under the sun and rain, only with its head part in a shed.

It was merely a sorry stage of affair which involving a mixture of political, race, governmental, departmental and religion interferences, that caused the beautiful MaZu statute remains until today as broken components laying on the ground. If without all these obstructions, interferences and had even gone to court, the MaZu statute could have been long erected and standing high to attract plenty of valued tourists to the Kudat town.
A supposedly simple straight forward erection of a statute has turned ugly by some quarters, which in the real fact is that our government is not doing the right thing. The decision has created much unhappiness among the Kudat people. This feeling still deeply felt among them and this is one of the many request made to Dr. Hiew and company during the visit to Kudat today.

The people felt strongly and some even burst out in anger to demand the statue issue to be resolved immediately, and allow the statute to be assembled and erected to provide a face lift to Kudat. The people in Kudat is angry and they want the government to immediate lift the ban.
Dr. Hiew has heard the comments from the people in Kudat, and feels that it is not reasonable for the government to stop the statute erection, especially this will be one of the future landmark in Kudat, which will bring in much live and activity in the whole area. The hotel and restaurant will be the first to benefit from it. The tourism industry will boom along with other business.
Again if BN cannot allow the MaZu statute to be erected, we will just have to wait until Pakatan Rakyat to take over the government to get it erected, claimed many when the Sabah DAP walked the Kudat central market.

  1. Bukankah lokasi baru yang diberikan lebih baik daripada lokasi asal?

  2. For me, location doesn't matter as long as Mazu worshiper have faith in their Mazu. The key word here is FAITH.

  3. I fully support the concerns of the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Musa Aman said that any decision on the issue of the statue of Mazu is made in the interests of all communities and to maintain the existing harmony among the multi-ethnic society in Kudat. give PR a chance to take over the government will give them a chance to destroy our harmony.
